Cadet Sgt. Clements Air Experience Flying at MOD St. Athan All Flight Suited Up

CADETS:

Sponsored by the MOD, the 'Air Cadets' is a UK-wide cadet force with more than 43,000 members aged between 12 and 17 years. We also have 20,000 adult volunteers aged 18 and over and provide military themed activities and training for young people aged 12 (Year 8) to 17, and a unique opportunity for fun, friendship, action and adventure as well as new skills and qualifications.

We’re a diverse and inclusive youth organisation, that is keen to embrace opportunities in Air, Space and Cyberspace. We hold national/weekend camps as well as focused activities and experiences in flying, gliding, sport, adventurous training, drill, target shooting and cyber skills among others. We also can help you academically with BTECs in Aerospace Studies and Space Studies

We have high standards to maintain as we are a ‘military’ youth organisation so there is an expectation that you’ll take pride in your uniform (we supply that), appearance, be well mannered and self-disciplined.

We Parade on Monday & Wednesday’s 18:30 - 21:30.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS:

Here at 2353 Ystrad Mynach Air Cadets though, (as with all squadrons) we rely heavily on a cohort of wonderful volunteers to help and inspire our Air Cadets to get the most out of fun, challenging and rewarding activities, building confidence, self-development and gaining invaluable skills.

Most Adult Volunteers join with little or no experience. So, if you’re aged over 18, enthusiastic, ready to work with young people to give something back to the community, and able to commit one or two nights a week as well as some weekends, they’ll do the rest: you’ll be trained to lead and train cadets, providing an adult role model and helping instil disclipline, self-esteem and achievement.

You’ll gain qualifications and experience, meet new, likeminded people and add some adventure to your spare time. There’s even the opportunity to put yourself forward for a commission as an officer with the Air Cadets, a professional challenge and prestigious appointment.

Here's a description of the symbols in our crest:

"The Fleur-de-Lys is a reference to a nearby village of the same name in the Rhymney Valley.

One historical theory as to village's French name is believed to be attributed to French Huguenots, who after being forced to flee France, came to settle in the area".

"The Welsh Dragon is the symbol with pride of place.

This particular dragon is a copy of the memorial to the 38th (Welsh) Division that fought at Mametz Wood in 1916"

2353 Squadron Motto Nulli Secundus meaning;

Nulli Secundus is a Latin phrase that translates to "Second to None". It is often used as a motto or phrase to convey excellence, superiority, or being unmatched in a particular field or activity.

In various contexts, Nulli Secundus has been used to describe military units, clubs, and organizations that pride themselves on their exceptional performance, skills, or achievements. For example, the 2/8th Australian Infantry Battalion, the Nine Squadron Royal Australian Corps of Transport, and the Nulli Secundus Club are all associated with this phrase.

In a broader sense, Nulli Secundus can also be used to describe individuals who are exceptional in their field, whether it's in sports, arts, or other areas of expertise. The phrase is often used to express admiration and respect for someone who has achieved a high level of excellence or has made significant contributions to their field.

In summary, Nulli Secundus is a phrase that conveys a sense of superiority, excellence, and unmatched achievement, whether it's used to describe a group or an individual.
